Shri Vijay Kumar is the OSD, Institute of Hotel Management, Aizawl, Mizoram and the Former Principal & Secretary of Institute of Hotel Management. Mr. Kumar is the native of Etah, Uttar Pradesh. He has graduated in Hotel Management from IHM Pusa, New Delhi in the year 1985. He started his professional career from Indian Tourism Development Corporation, New Delhi. He later became an Educationist at IHM Bhopal. He has served as Principal for more than 22 years which includes four years at IHM Gangtok also. Mr. Kumar took charge of IHM Shillong in the year 2005. During his tenure at IHM Shillong, Mr. Kumar have won several National Awards of Excellence for IHM Shillong from the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India which includes Special Award for Operational Performance, Administrative Performance and Academic Performance. Under the leadership of Shi Vijay Kumar, the Institute of Hotel Management, Shillong has been awarded the second prize for the Best Maintained Educational Institute from Ministry of Tourism, Government of India. Shri Vijay Kumar has done his specialization in Culinary Arts from Culinary Institute of America. Mr. Kumar is certified as a Qualified Learners Facilitator from Ecole Hôtelière de Lausanne, Switzerland. Mr. Kumar has also undergone Management Development Program from Cornell-Nanyang Institute of Hospitality Management, Singapore. During his school time Mr. Kumar was a National Athlete. He stood first in 400 meters at National Schools Meet 1979 at New Delhi. There he had the Honor to meet one of India’s greatest track athletes, Shi Milkha Singh during the medal distribution at the Victory Stand. Shri Vijay Kumar has been an academician and a Hospitality Educator for more than three decades. Mr. Kumar is an Experienced Principal with a demonstrated history of working in the Hospitality Industry. Mr. Kumar was the Pioneer Chef who has motivated the youth of Meghalaya & other North-Eastern States to begin and set-up their own Start-Up in the field of Hospitality & Catering Industry Post-Covid. Mr. Kumar is a highly skilled professional in Catering, Restaurant Management, Food & Beverage, Front Office, and Hospitality Management supported by a strong and International Educational Background.
